New 400-Disc Blu Ray Disc / DVD Mega Changer by Sony

On July 23, 2009 Sony has announced the new BDP-CX960 and the “Elevated Standard” (ES) BDP-CX7000ES 400 disc Blu Ray Disc MegaChangers to help the consumers to simplify and manage their entertainment room more organized. Besides, in expanding the Sony’s Blu-ray Disc line to 13 models , Sony also announced the BDP-S1000ES singles disc ES player to offer a broad set of performance and features.

With the Blu-ray Disc MegaChanger models, consumers will enable to relocate the disc library to a convenient, easy to access location since it will store and play 400 Blu-ray Discs, DVDs, and CDs.

The 400 Blu-ray Disc MegaChanger also has feature to enable the consumers to organize movies and music by downloading information from Gracenote’s MusicID and VideoID. With Gracenote technology, when you insert a disc into the device, it will download automatically all information across an existing internet broadband services and saves title, release year, director, genre information, and some cast information, so for sure it will allow users to navigate the library easily through the player’s xross media bar menu system.

BDP-CX7000ES and BDP-CX960

The BDP-CX7000ES is the leading of MegaChanger line up with its output full HD 1080/60p and 24p True Cinema^TM that means the model is upscale standard definition DVDs to 1080p through Sony’s precision Cinema HD Upscale technology if it’s connected to a 1080p display via HDMI. The player is built to high quality ES standards and designed to integrate with third party automation control systems with an RS232 model features and IR-in.

With 7.1 channel analog output it offers an exceptional audio quality. And to analyze the original source bit by bit continually, the BDP-CX7000ES is also fully equipped with the HD Reality Enhancer technology that will also enable to reduce the effects of film grain, sharpening edges and reproducing detail as well. It also comes with Super Bit Mapping technology that able to deliver smoother color gradation realizing true 14- bit equivalent color tone from 8-bit sources.

It supports an Ethernet port for connectivity to a local home broadband network  to download metadata from Gracenote, to updates software and  to access BD-Live content for both player, the BDP-CX7800ES and the BDP-CX960.And to support BD-Live content, users can add their USB flash storage device on external port for local storage.

According to the plan, the BDP-CX7000ES will be available on the market this coming August at the estimated price $1,900 and for the BDP-CX960 will be available on the market this fall for about $800.

BDP-S1000ES

As for the capability for easy BD-Live access, the single-disc BDP-S1000ES Blu-ray Disc player bolsters the ES line will be added a built-in Wi-Fi (802.11N/G/B/A). Through Sony’s Precision Cinema HD Upscale technology, this model of the BDP-S1000ES also offers a full HD 1080/60p and 24p True Cinema and upscale standard definition DVSs to 1080p.

The BDP-S1000ES enable users to connect to the internet easily through an existing wireless home network in order to download and stream BD-Live content from select titles such as short subjects, interactive games, additional scenes, trailers and many more. Besides, if you want to assist in keeping your player up to date with the latest Blu-ray Disc media and features, this player is also enable to easily update the firmware.

In addition of that, the BDP-S1000ES is also a Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) ready so it will allow you to connect to other DLNA compliant devices that will enable you to watch digital photos on your TV. It also supports Wi-Fi Protected Setup since it’s compatible with most wireless routers, so users can connect quickly and easily to enabled wireless routers.

The player is also equipped with Sony’s HD Reality Enhancer, Precision Drive HD technology and Super Bit Mapping. The model of BDP-S1000ES is also compatible with advanced audio codec: Dolby Digital Plus, 7.1 channel Dolby TrueHD, analog 7.1 channel output, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS-HD Resolution Audio decoding, and bit stream ouput.  Yet it also support  and compatible for some video formats such as BD-ROM/R/RE (BDMV and BDAV modes), MP3/JPEG on BD/DVD/CD recordable media and DVD-+Video/R/RW, CD/R/RW.

The price range / estimation for the BDP-S1000ES is about $700 that will be available on the market this coming August.
